Avon League 15th June 2008
The first Avon League of 2008 kicked off on the 15th June at YOSC. There were some excellant performances from Bitton Runners old and new.
Rob Phillips ran at his usaul best to record PB's and Avon League records. Other noteable performances came from first time competitors Racel Finch, James Finch, Josh Garnett and Lucy Denning.

New Records for Bitton Athletes
Well done to Jake White who recorded a time of 12.4 in the Young athletes league at YOSC on the 1st June, Jake also ran the 200m in 24.8.
Well done also to the ever improving Rob Phillips who set yet another PB and Avon league record at the recent Avon League meeting held on the 15th June at YOSC, Rob bettered his own time for the 75m Hurdles by 0.5 sec and set a new record of 12.7.
Rob also represented South Glos Schools and won the Avon Schools Minor boys 100m on the 13th June setting a new PB of 13.40, Rob also broke his long jump PB at the Brimsham Green sports day with a leap of 4.87, improving his PB by 30cms.

The first race of the Bitton Juniors summer 1k series took place on the 15th May on the Bitton cycle track. The winner was Alex Bull.

Avon Athletics Championships held at YOSC 11th May 2008
Once again Rob Phillips shines in Bitton colours. Rob took parts in the following races
100m 1st 13.6 secs and a new PB
200m 2nd 28.0 Secs New PB and Bitton u13 record
75m Hurdles 1st 13.2 secs New PB and Bitton u13 record.
Further to this Rob has been chosen to represent South Glos Schools in the 100m next month

The first Bitton 5k of the summer took place on the 15th May with some fantastic results from bitton juniors past and present.

Phillips Brothers at it again.
Well done to Rob Phillips Who competed at YOSC on the 13th April in the 100m, 200m and 75m Hurdles. Rob set three new PB's with times of 13.85 in the 100m, 28.47 in the 200m and 13.26 in the 75m Hurdles. all timings were electronic.
On the Same day, brother Sam ran in the Horton Bull run completing an undulating 4 mile course in 27m 49secs to finish 13th overall and 1st in U17 age group. [Posted by Richard on 15/04/2008] |

New Club Records.
New club records have recently been set, Rob Phillips broke the U13 400m record in a time of 60.05secs taking the record from Harry Webb who had previusly set 60.05.60. Also Jacob White broke the U15 400m record with a time of 57.52 taking the previous record from Ryan coxwho had set 58.0. Well done guys [Posted by Richard on 13/04/2008] |

Rob Phillips competed on Saturday morning at YOSC in 'closed' meeting for Yate, Westbury & South Glos development athletes.
There was a very cold headwind that gained in strength during the morning.

Robert Phillips was the sole Bitton representative at last weekends INDOOR open meeting in Cardiff. During the event he set pb's in the following boys under 13 events:
200 metres : 1st - 29.00 pb (electronic 28.97)
60 metres hurdles : 1st - 10.70 pb (electronic 10.67)
Rob was observed on the track warming up in an England football shirt! I don't expect this was very well received by the predominantly Welsh opposition. [Posted by Ira on 08/01/2008] |

Congratulation to Rob Phillips who went to the South West Indoor Championships, held in Bath on Saturday 8th December. He competed at under 13 level in three events:
60 metres 2nd (best time 8.70 achieved in heats)
60 metres hurdles 1st (10.76 - Rob was the only Boys under 13 in the competition!)
Long Jump 2nd (4.32m - new PB)
Tom Pontin was competing as 1st year under 15 in 60 metres and long jump. He got knocked out in the heats in about 8.85 secs. Think set new PB in long jump. [Posted by Ira on 10/12/2007] |

Well done to Rob Phillips who on the 5th August competed for Avon in the Southwest Track and Field Chanps held in Exeter.Rob ran in the 75m Hurdles against boys 1 year group oolder than he and finished in 3rd place just 1/100th of a second of getting second place, Rob set a new club record with his time of 13.73 secs.
Rob also jumped as a guest in the Long Jump and recorded ajump just 2 cm outside of his PB of 4.21. [Edited by Richard on 28/08/2007] |

Galaxy Club - The biggest improver for the 3rd Galaxy PB club for 2007 goes to Tom Pontin with a huge 19.2% improvement on his 300m time achieved whilst running at the Cheltenham open meeting on the 25th June. Runner up spot gpoes to Kirby Pollard with a 15% improvement on her previous long Jump record recorded in 2006. The remaining top 6 places go to Chris Lewin, Jason Blue, Dan Baker and Bradley Poole.

| ANOTHER STAR IN THE MAKING - Congratulations to Robert Phillips who has this week been selected to represent Bitton in the South West Inter County Athletics at Exeter Arena on Sunday the 5th August. Rob will be competing for Avon against teams from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Glos, Somerset, Wiltshire and Wales. Rob will be running the in the 75m Hurdles and the 200m. This selection is Robs reward for a distinguished service to Bitton Juniors even though he is still only 11, Rob has worked tirelessly week in week out and is highly respected by his fellow athletes and all the coaches.
