Return to running communication 2

Bitton Road Runners Return to Running

Update 2

10th Aug 2020

We trust you are all keeping safe and managing to get those runs in.

Our first club session since the Covid lockdown went well last week and thank you to those who provided feedback.

We are pleased to announce our return to runs from the club starting this Thursday 13th Aug at 7pm. Though it will be September before we return to Tuesday nights from the Club.

Track at Yate on Monday has been cancelled  due to lack of interest and there’s insufficient time to set up the process for a return to Whitehall on Tuesday. We are aiming for the following week if we can ensure it is safe to do so.

To  return to safe running from the Club we have had to make a few changes which we detail here.

  • All sessions must be booked in advance via the Run Together online booking system which is only available to club members. The Run Together system will ensure that as a club we fulfil our responsibilities regarding the NHS Test and Trace System. You can download the Run Together Runner App for your smartphone from your App provider.
  • Places in each group are limited to 5 runners plus a coach (see note 1 below) and are on a first come, first served basis. Access to the booking system is via the Club Web site only. Runners who attend on the night without booking will not be permitted to partake in the session.
  • All current Government and EA guidelines must be observed including keeping a 2 mtr distance.  EA guidance can be found here
  • Toilet and changing facilities will not be available at the club
  • Runners should arrive at the club ready to run and leave as soon as the session is complete.
    • Please Note that:
The Oldland Abbotonians FC (OAFC) bar will be open from 19:30 to 21:00 hrs on Thursday nights. Bitton Road Runner Members who choose to use the bar do so at their own Risk and must provide contact details to OAFC for their Test and Trace process. Using the bar will be defined as entering the OAFC club house.
  • All runners must bring their own bottle of hand sanitiser and drinking water. Car keys are not to be left with others or at the start location.
  • All sessions are 50p which should be dropped in the collection bucket outside our lock up. Correct money only please no change to taken
  • Five 10k Club routes have been reviewed to minimise Covid Risks and will be available plus the normal Thursday sessions. All sessions will be coach led. When booking, each session name is prefixed by Zn which identifies the meet Zone for each group. See map below. Groups will leave the football pitch at 1 minute intervals keeping 2 mtrs apart.

Runners and coaches should comply with all public health restrictions and avoid high risk behaviour outside the Club setting to reduce the risk to their fellow runners when they do attend a club session or venue.

Finally, we appreciate that some of you may not feel ready to recommence running in groups of any size. We fully understand and look forward to welcoming you back when you feel the time is right.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a member of the committee.

Note 1:

As a club we are close to achieving Covid Secure Environment status as defined by England Athletics. Once achieved we will be permitted to increase the group size to up 12 runners plus a coach.
