Bitton Road Runners - Return to Running

We trust you and your families are all keeping safe.

Our club Tuesday and Thursday Run Together sessions are going from strength to strength with 65 members now registered with Run Together. However, if we are not offering you the training sessions you want email Terry (terry.kirby@bittonroadrunners.co.uk) and he will try and set something up for you.

Current Government and England Athletics guidance states that "Informal activity or that outside the Covid Secure Environment must still be within two household units or groups of no more than 6". Our Club sessions will therefore remain at 5+1 until we have achieved Covid-19 Secure Environment status

We are working towards being able to declare Bitton Road Runners as an Covid Secure Environment by the beginning of September. This will enable us to increase the number of runners per session to 12 plus a coach. Hopefully, this will coincide with us being able to return to the club on a Tuesday night.

We are also working on a process to enable new members to join the Club. If you know anyone who wishes to join ask them to email Terry.

Please remember that:

  • All sessions must be booked in advance via the Run Together online booking system, which is only available to paid up club members. The Run Together system will ensure that as a club we fulfil our responsibilities regarding the NHS Test and Trace System. You can download the Run Together Runner App for your smartphone from your App provider.
  • Places in each group are limited to 5 runners plus a coach and are on a first come, first served basis. Access to the booking system is via the link on the Club Web site. Runners who attend on the night without booking will not be permitted to partake in the session.
  • Sorry but it is a limitation of Run Together that you cannot see who else has booked a session.
  • All current Government and EA guidelines must be observed including keeping a 2 mtr distance.  EA guidance can be found here
  • Toilet and changing facilities will not be available at the start venues
  • Runners should arrive ready to run and leave as soon as the session is complete.
  • All runners must bring their own bottle of hand sanitiser and drinking water. Car keys are not to be left with others or at the start location.
  • All sessions are 50p which should be dropped in the collection bucket, correct money only please
  • Five Club 10k routes have been reviewed to minimise Covid Risks and will be available plus the normal Thursday sessions. All sessions will be coach lead.
  • Runners and coaches should comply with all public health restrictions and avoid high risk behaviour outside the Club setting to reduce the risk to their fellow runners when they do attend a club session or venue.

Following EA guidance anyone who has attended one of our Run Together sessions and subsequently tests positive for COVID should complete the UKA COVID-19 tracking form. A link to the form can be found here https://www.uka.org.uk/governance/health-safety/covid-19-form/ hopefully you never have to complete it.

Please Note that:
The Oldland Abbotonians FC (OAFC) bar will be open from 19:30 to 21:00 hrs on Thursday nights. Bitton Road Runner Members who choose to use the bar do so at their own Risk and must provide contact details to OAFC for their Test and Trace process. Using the bar will be defined as entering the OAFC club house.

Finally, we appreciate that some of you may not feel ready to recommence running in groups of any size. We fully understand and look forward to welcoming you back when you feel the time is right.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email steve.herring@bittonroadrunners or speak to a member of the committee.

Keep safe
