Bitton Road Runners Membership Bye Law

First Claim Membership (FCM)

FCM is open to anyone aged 17yrs and over who wishes to run with the club. Acceptance as a FCM member is subject to the approval of the Club Exec. The fee is £38pa (reviewed annually) which includes the EA fee. The Committee cannot increase the subscription by more than 10% pa without the approval of the AGM.

First Claim membership means that Bitton Road Runners is your main club and will appear on your EA competition licence.

FCM Members:

are granted full voting rights and the right to join the committee.
have access to all club information and will receive club emails and updates
will be invited to all social events including fund raisers and annual awards events
will have free entry to the clubs London Marathon Ballot, subject being a member for 12 months
and the T&C’s set out by the committee

As a condition of membership, it is expected that FCM members will play an active role in the club which would include any of the following:-

The wearing of Club colours when racing
Marshalling Bitton Races a minimum of 1 race pa
Assisting with the organisation of races
Supporting recces for off road events
Helping at fund raising events
Assisting with the organisation of social events
Promoting the club amongst friends and family

2. Second Claim Membership (SCM)

As of July 2025 the Club no longer accepts new applications for SCM. Existing SCM may continue to be members of the Club.

3. Social Membership (SM)

SM membership is
open to anyone who, despite no longer running, wishes to remain an active part of the club.
Acceptance as a SM member is subject to the approval of the Club Exec.
is also available to the partners of existing members.
is free and SM members are granted full voting rights and the right to join the committee.
have access to all club information and will receive club emails and updates at the same time as running members
will be invited to all social events including fund raisers and annual awards events

It is expected that SM members will play an active role in the club which would include any of the following:-

Marshalling Bitton Races
Assisting with the organisation of races
Supporting recces for off road events
Helping at fund raising events
Assisting with the organisation of social events
Promoting the club amongst friends and family

Being an SM member is the perfect way to remain involved and keep in touch with running buddies and of course, associates are always welcome to join us for post run drinks

4. Honorary Membership (HM)

In recognition of long & valuable service to the club the Committee may award Honorary Membership status to club members. HM status can be awarded to First Claim & Social Members alike and will announced at the AGM. There is no limit to the number of HM that can be awarded per year but it is not expect to be more than 2 or 3.

Once HM is awarded it remains in place for life subject to not bringing the Club in to disrepute.

Honorary Members whether running or not have their Club membership (inc. EA) covered by the club and enjoy the full benefits of First Claim Members.

5. Junior Membership (JM)

JM is:

• open to anyone aged between 7yrs and under 17yrs who wishes to run with the club.
• Acceptance as a JM is subject to the approval of the Club Exec. The fee is £50pa (reviewed annually).
• membership means that Bitton Road Runners is your main club and will appear on your competition licence.
• Guardians have access to all club information and will receive club emails and updates.

All Club correspondence is through the Juniors Guardian.
